Barangay Purog

Situated in Dueñas, Iloilo, Barangay Purog is one of 47 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Purog had a population of 602. This made it the 21st largest of 47 barangays in Dueñas by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Purog accounted for approximately 1.74% of the total population of Dueñas, which stood at 34,597 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Purog moving from 633 residents to 602 residents, an intercensal change of -4.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Purog as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dueñas is a municipality comprising 47 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Purog, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
