Barangay Cagamutan del Sur

Barangay Cagamutan del Sur is a small barangay in the municipality of Gamay, located in the province of Northern Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cagamutan del Sur had a population of 1,248. This made it the 7th largest of 26 barangays in Gamay by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cagamutan del Sur accounted for approximately 5.34% of the total population of Gamay, which stood at 23,367 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,235 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,248 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.1%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cagamutan del Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Gamay is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cagamutan del Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
