Barangay Nanga

Situated in Guimbal, Iloilo, Barangay Nanga is one of 33 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Nanga had a population of 1,815. This made it the 5th largest of 33 barangays in Guimbal by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Nanga accounted for approximately 5.18% of the total population of Guimbal, which stood at 35,022 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,696 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,815 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Nanga is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Guimbal is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Nanga, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Nanga ranks 321st by 2020 population. Barangay Nanga is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
