Barangay Banaag

Barangay Banaag forms part of Guiuan, a municipality in Eastern Samar, and is classified as a very small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Banaag had a population of 462. This made it the 43rd largest of 60 barangays in Guiuan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banaag accounted for approximately 0.87% of the total population of Guiuan, which stood at 53,361 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Banaag changed from 452 to 462, a shift of +2.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Guiuan. Barangay Banaag is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Guiuan is a municipality comprising 60 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banaag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Banaag ranks 378th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
