Situated in Hamtic, Antique, Barangay Apdo is one of 47 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Apdo had a population of 747. This made it the 32nd largest of 47 barangays in Hamtic by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Apdo accounted for approximately 1.42% of the total population of Hamtic, which stood at 52,685 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 818 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 747 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -8.7%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Apdo as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Hamtic is a municipality comprising 47 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Apdo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
