Barangay Poblacion

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Imelda in Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 5,195. This made it the 1st largest of 18 barangays in Imelda by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 19.97% of the total population of Imelda, which stood at 26,020 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 6,597 residents to 5,195 residents, an intercensal change of -21.3%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Imelda is a municipality comprising 18 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Sibugay, which contains 389 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 13th by 2020 population.
