Barangay Ubian

Barangay Ubian is a small barangay in the municipality of Janiuay, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Ubian had a population of 883. This made it the 37th largest of 60 barangays in Janiuay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ubian accounted for approximately 1.32% of the total population of Janiuay, which stood at 66,786 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Ubian moving from 981 residents to 883 residents, an intercensal change of -10.0%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Ubian as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Janiuay is a municipality comprising 60 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ubian, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
