Barangay Butuan

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Butuan is one of the administrative divisions of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental, Davao Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Butuan had a population of 2,172. This made it the 20th largest of 26 barangays in Jose Abad Santos by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Butuan accounted for approximately 2.96% of the total population of Jose Abad Santos, which stood at 73,381 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Butuan changed from 2,060 to 2,172, a shift of +5.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Jose Abad Santos. Barangay Butuan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Jose Abad Santos is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Butuan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
