Barangay Lawigan

Barangay Lawigan forms part of Labason, a municipality in Zamboanga Del Norte, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Lawigan had a population of 1,224. This made it the 17th largest of 20 barangays in Labason by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lawigan accounted for approximately 2.79% of the total population of Labason, which stood at 43,934 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Lawigan moving from 1,404 residents to 1,224 residents, an intercensal change of -12.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Lawigan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Labason is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lawigan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
