Barangay Poblacion 8

Situated in Lawaan, Eastern Samar, Barangay Poblacion 8 is one of 16 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion 8 had a population of 2,042. This made it the 1st largest of 16 barangays in Lawaan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion 8 accounted for approximately 15.70% of the total population of Lawaan, which stood at 13,003 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,474 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,042 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +38.5%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Poblacion 8 is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Lawaan is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion 8, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
