Barangay Cantaongon

Situated in Loon, Bohol, Barangay Cantaongon is one of 67 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cantaongon had a population of 946. This made it the 15th largest of 67 barangays in Loon by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cantaongon accounted for approximately 2.14% of the total population of Loon, which stood at 44,224 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,010 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 946 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -6.3%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cantaongon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Loon is a municipality comprising 67 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cantaongon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bohol, which contains 1,109 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cantaongon ranks 552nd by 2020 population.
