Barangay New Asturias

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay New Asturias is one of the administrative divisions of Maco in Davao De Oro, Davao Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay New Asturias had a population of 995. This made it the 26th largest of 37 barangays in Maco by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay New Asturias accounted for approximately 1.20% of the total population of Maco, which stood at 83,237 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay New Asturias changed from 1,012 to 995, a shift of -1.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with broadly stable populations in Maco. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay New Asturias as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
