Barangay Cantugbas

Situated in Maria, Siquijor, Barangay Cantugbas is one of 22 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cantugbas had a population of 412. This made it the 19th largest of 22 barangays in Maria by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cantugbas accounted for approximately 2.86% of the total population of Maria, which stood at 14,385 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cantugbas changed from 386 to 412, a shift of +6.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Maria. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cantugbas as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Maria is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cantugbas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Siquijor, which contains 134 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cantugbas ranks 104th by 2020 population.
