Barangay Santa Paz

Barangay Santa Paz forms part of Matalom, a municipality in Leyte, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Santa Paz had a population of 1,655. This made it the 5th largest of 30 barangays in Matalom by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Santa Paz accounted for approximately 5.08% of the total population of Matalom, which stood at 32,586 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,724 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,655 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -4.0%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Santa Paz as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Matalom is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Santa Paz, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Santa Paz ranks 297th by 2020 population.
