Barangay Burgos

Situated in Mayorga, Leyte, Barangay Burgos is one of 16 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Burgos had a population of 730. This made it the 12th largest of 16 barangays in Mayorga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Burgos accounted for approximately 4.04% of the total population of Mayorga, which stood at 18,071 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Burgos moving from 665 residents to 730 residents, an intercensal change of +9.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Burgos as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mayorga is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Burgos, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
