Barangay General Antonio Luna

Barangay General Antonio Luna is a small barangay in the municipality of Mayorga, located in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay General Antonio Luna had a population of 1,165. This made it the 7th largest of 16 barangays in Mayorga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay General Antonio Luna accounted for approximately 6.45% of the total population of Mayorga, which stood at 18,071 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,037 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,165 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +12.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay General Antonio Luna as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mayorga is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay General Antonio Luna, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay General Antonio Luna ranks 501st by 2020 population.
