Barangay Buenavista

Barangay Buenavista forms part of Murcia, a municipality in Negros Occidental, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Buenavista had a population of 2,766. This made it the 15th largest of 23 barangays in Murcia by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Buenavista accounted for approximately 3.11% of the total population of Murcia, which stood at 88,868 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,499 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,766 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Buenavista is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Murcia is a municipality comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Buenavista, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
