Barangay Candelaria

Situated in New Washington, Aklan, Barangay Candelaria is one of 16 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Candelaria had a population of 1,850. This made it the 12th largest of 16 barangays in New Washington by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Candelaria accounted for approximately 3.86% of the total population of New Washington, which stood at 47,955 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Candelaria moving from 1,708 residents to 1,850 residents, an intercensal change of +8.3%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Candelaria as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
