Barangay Dumaguit

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Dumaguit is one of the administrative divisions of New Washington in Aklan, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Dumaguit had a population of 2,207. This made it the 11th largest of 16 barangays in New Washington by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Dumaguit accounted for approximately 4.60% of the total population of New Washington, which stood at 47,955 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Dumaguit moving from 2,139 residents to 2,207 residents, an intercensal change of +3.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Dumaguit is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

New Washington is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Dumaguit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Aklan, which contains 327 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Dumaguit ranks 69th by 2020 population.
