Barangay Dimatican

Barangay Dimatican is a small barangay in the municipality of Palanan, located in the province of Isabela, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Dimatican had a population of 1,001. This made it the 7th largest of 17 barangays in Palanan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Dimatican accounted for approximately 5.66% of the total population of Palanan, which stood at 17,684 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 862 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,001 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +16.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Dimatican is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Palanan is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Dimatican, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Isabela, which contains 1,055 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Dimatican ranks 653rd by 2020 population.
