Barangay Canipaan

Situated in Palompon, Leyte, Barangay Canipaan is one of 50 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Canipaan had a population of 841. This made it the 32nd largest of 50 barangays in Palompon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Canipaan accounted for approximately 1.44% of the total population of Palompon, which stood at 58,313 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Canipaan moving from 1,215 residents to 841 residents, an intercensal change of -30.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Canipaan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Palompon is a municipality comprising 50 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Canipaan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
