Barangay Catigahan

Situated in Palompon, Leyte, Barangay Catigahan is one of 50 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Catigahan had a population of 206. This made it the 48th largest of 50 barangays in Palompon by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Catigahan accounted for approximately 0.35% of the total population of Palompon, which stood at 58,313 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Catigahan moving from 345 residents to 206 residents, an intercensal change of -40.3%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Catigahan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Palompon is a municipality comprising 50 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Catigahan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
