Barangay San Joaquin

Barangay San Joaquin is a small barangay in the municipality of Palompon, located in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Joaquin had a population of 797. This made it the 35th largest of 50 barangays in Palompon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Joaquin accounted for approximately 1.37% of the total population of Palompon, which stood at 58,313 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay San Joaquin changed from 789 to 797, a shift of +1.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Palompon. Barangay San Joaquin is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Palompon is a municipality comprising 50 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Joaquin, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
