This made it the 7th largest of 33 barangays in Pio Duran by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Basicao Coastal changed from 2,300 to 2,167, a shift of -5.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Pio Duran. Barangay Basicao Coastal is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
