Barangay Bugas-bugas

Barangay Bugas-bugas forms part of Placer, a municipality in Surigao Del Norte, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bugas-bugas had a population of 956. This made it the 11th largest of 20 barangays in Placer by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bugas-bugas accounted for approximately 3.23% of the total population of Placer, which stood at 29,616 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 816 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 956 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +17.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bugas-bugas is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Placer is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bugas-bugas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
