Barangay Maasin

Barangay Maasin is a small barangay in the municipality of Pura, located in the province of Tarlac, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Maasin had a population of 722. This made it the 16th largest of 16 barangays in Pura by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maasin accounted for approximately 2.80% of the total population of Pura, which stood at 25,781 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Maasin moving from 783 residents to 722 residents, an intercensal change of -7.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Maasin is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pura is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maasin, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
