Barangay Laguma

Situated in Silago, Southern Leyte, Barangay Laguma is one of 15 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Laguma had a population of 795. This made it the 7th largest of 15 barangays in Silago by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Laguma accounted for approximately 6.06% of the total population of Silago, which stood at 13,116 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Laguma moving from 800 residents to 795 residents, an intercensal change of -0.6%. The trajectory indicates a broadly stable community. Barangay Laguma is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Silago is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Laguma, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Southern Leyte, which contains 500 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Laguma ranks 205th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
