Barangay Puntana

Barangay Puntana is a very small barangay in the municipality of Silago, located in the province of Southern Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Puntana had a population of 322. This made it the 13th largest of 15 barangays in Silago by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Puntana accounted for approximately 2.46% of the total population of Silago, which stood at 13,116 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Puntana moving from 356 residents to 322 residents, an intercensal change of -9.6%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Puntana is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Silago is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Puntana, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Southern Leyte, which contains 500 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Puntana ranks 443rd by 2020 population.
