Barangay San Jose

Situated in Sudipen, La Union, Barangay San Jose is one of 17 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Jose had a population of 884. This made it the 10th largest of 17 barangays in Sudipen by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Jose accounted for approximately 5.14% of the total population of Sudipen, which stood at 17,187 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 871 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 884 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.5%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Jose as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sudipen is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Jose, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
