Barangay Osmeña

Situated in Sulop, Davao Del Sur, Barangay Osmeña is one of 25 barangays that make up the municipality within Davao Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Osmeña had a population of 609. This made it the 22nd largest of 25 barangays in Sulop by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Osmeña accounted for approximately 1.73% of the total population of Sulop, which stood at 35,151 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Osmeña changed from 572 to 609, a shift of +6.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Sulop. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Osmeña as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sulop is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Osmeña, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Del Sur, which contains 414 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Osmeña ranks 223rd by 2020 population.
