Barangay Malixi

Barangay Malixi is a small barangay in the municipality of Tagbina, located in the province of Surigao Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Malixi had a population of 1,432. This made it the 12th largest of 25 barangays in Tagbina by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malixi accounted for approximately 3.49% of the total population of Tagbina, which stood at 41,051 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malixi moving from 1,422 residents to 1,432 residents, an intercensal change of +0.7%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Malixi as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tagbina is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malixi, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Sur, which contains 309 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Malixi ranks 155th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
