Barangay Colong-colong

Barangay Colong-colong is a small barangay in the municipality of Tagkawayan, located in the province of Quezon, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Colong-colong had a population of 603. This made it the 31st largest of 45 barangays in Tagkawayan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Colong-colong accounted for approximately 1.12% of the total population of Tagkawayan, which stood at 54,003 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Colong-colong moving from 639 residents to 603 residents, an intercensal change of -5.6%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Colong-colong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tagkawayan is a municipality comprising 45 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Colong-colong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
