Barangay Poblacion Sur

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Poblacion Sur is one of the administrative divisions of Talavera in Nueva Ecija, Central Luzon, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion Sur had a population of 3,651. This made it the 12th largest of 53 barangays in Talavera by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Sur accounted for approximately 2.76% of the total population of Talavera, which stood at 132,338 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,409 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,651 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion Sur as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Talavera is a municipality comprising 53 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Ecija, which contains 849 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion Sur ranks 196th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
