Barangay Poblacion

Situated in Tampakan, South Cotabato, Barangay Poblacion is one of 14 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 7,442. This made it the 1st largest of 14 barangays in Tampakan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 18.14% of the total population of Tampakan, which stood at 41,018 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 7,308 to 7,442, a shift of +1.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Tampakan. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Tampakan is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of South Cotabato, which contains 225 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 33rd by 2020 population.
