Barangay San Nicolas

Situated in Tapaz, Capiz, Barangay San Nicolas is one of 58 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Nicolas had a population of 2,669. This made it the 2nd largest of 58 barangays in Tapaz by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Nicolas accounted for approximately 4.90% of the total population of Tapaz, which stood at 54,423 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,656 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,669 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +0.5%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay San Nicolas is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tapaz is a municipality comprising 58 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Nicolas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Capiz, which contains 473 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Nicolas ranks 67th by 2020 population.
