Barangay Taft

Situated in Tapaz, Capiz, Barangay Taft is one of 58 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Taft had a population of 1,384. This made it the 10th largest of 58 barangays in Tapaz by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Taft accounted for approximately 2.54% of the total population of Tapaz, which stood at 54,423 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Taft changed from 1,341 to 1,384, a shift of +3.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Tapaz. Barangay Taft is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tapaz is a municipality comprising 58 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Taft, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Capiz, which contains 473 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Taft ranks 209th by 2020 population.
