Barangay Apolong

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Apolong is one of the administrative divisions of Valencia in Negros Oriental, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Apolong had a population of 1,732. This made it the 9th largest of 24 barangays in Valencia by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Apolong accounted for approximately 4.47% of the total population of Valencia, which stood at 38,733 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Apolong changed from 1,623 to 1,732, a shift of +6.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Valencia. Barangay Apolong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Valencia is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Apolong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Apolong ranks 314th by 2020 population.
