Barangay Ananong

Barangay Ananong is a very small barangay in the municipality of Viga, located in the province of Catanduanes, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Ananong had a population of 423. This made it the 24th largest of 31 barangays in Viga by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ananong accounted for approximately 1.85% of the total population of Viga, which stood at 22,869 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Ananong moving from 409 residents to 423 residents, an intercensal change of +3.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Ananong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Viga is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ananong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
