Barangay Maluay

Situated in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental, Barangay Maluay is one of 10 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Maluay had a population of 3,752. This made it the 3rd largest of 10 barangays in Zamboanguita by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maluay accounted for approximately 12.69% of the total population of Zamboanguita, which stood at 29,569 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Maluay changed from 3,650 to 3,752, a shift of +2.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Zamboanguita. Barangay Maluay is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Zamboanguita is a municipality comprising 10 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maluay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
