Barangay Canwarak

Situated in Zumarraga, Samar, Barangay Canwarak is one of 25 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Canwarak had a population of 645. This made it the 10th largest of 25 barangays in Zumarraga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Canwarak accounted for approximately 3.96% of the total population of Zumarraga, which stood at 16,279 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Canwarak moving from 691 residents to 645 residents, an intercensal change of -6.7%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Canwarak as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Zumarraga is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Canwarak, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
