Barangay Macalunod

Situated in Zumarraga, Samar, Barangay Macalunod is one of 25 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Macalunod had a population of 641. This made it the 11th largest of 25 barangays in Zumarraga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Macalunod accounted for approximately 3.94% of the total population of Zumarraga, which stood at 16,279 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Macalunod moving from 677 residents to 641 residents, an intercensal change of -5.3%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Macalunod as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
