Barangay Agani

Barangay Agani is a small barangay in the municipality of Alcala, located in the province of Cagayan, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Agani had a population of 1,421. This made it the 13th largest of 25 barangays in Alcala by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Agani accounted for approximately 3.44% of the total population of Alcala, which stood at 41,295 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Agani moving from 1,206 residents to 1,421 residents, an intercensal change of +17.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Agani as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Alcala is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Agani, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cagayan, which contains 820 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Agani ranks 338th by 2020 population.
