Barangay Carallangan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Carallangan is one of the administrative divisions of Alcala in Cagayan, Cagayan Valley, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Carallangan had a population of 966. This made it the 21st largest of 25 barangays in Alcala by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Carallangan accounted for approximately 2.34% of the total population of Alcala, which stood at 41,295 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Carallangan changed from 999 to 966, a shift of -3.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Alcala. Barangay Carallangan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Alcala is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Carallangan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cagayan, which contains 820 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Carallangan ranks 528th by 2020 population.
