Barangay Calantac

Barangay Calantac is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Alcala, located in the province of Cagayan, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Calantac had a population of 2,980. This made it the 2nd largest of 25 barangays in Alcala by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Calantac accounted for approximately 7.22% of the total population of Alcala, which stood at 41,295 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Calantac moving from 2,865 residents to 2,980 residents, an intercensal change of +4.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Calantac as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Alcala is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Calantac, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
