Barangay San Esteban

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay San Esteban is one of the administrative divisions of Alcala in Cagayan, Cagayan Valley, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Esteban had a population of 1,311. This made it the 15th largest of 25 barangays in Alcala by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Esteban accounted for approximately 3.17% of the total population of Alcala, which stood at 41,295 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,308 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,311 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +0.2%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Esteban as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Alcala is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Esteban, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
