Barangay San Miguel

Situated in Bacong, Negros Oriental, Barangay San Miguel is one of 22 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Miguel had a population of 4,762. This made it the 2nd largest of 22 barangays in Bacong by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Miguel accounted for approximately 11.56% of the total population of Bacong, which stood at 41,207 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,488 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,762 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay San Miguel is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Bacong is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Miguel, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Miguel ranks 71st by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
