Barangay Bacolod

Situated in Cagwait, Surigao Del Sur, Barangay Bacolod is one of 11 barangays that make up the municipality within Caraga.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bacolod had a population of 2,168. This made it the 4th largest of 11 barangays in Cagwait by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bacolod accounted for approximately 9.97% of the total population of Cagwait, which stood at 21,747 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,070 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,168 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +4.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bacolod as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cagwait is a municipality comprising 11 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bacolod, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Sur, which contains 309 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bacolod ranks 91st by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
