Barangay Bitaugan East

Barangay Bitaugan East is a small barangay in the municipality of Cagwait, located in the province of Surigao Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bitaugan East had a population of 905. This made it the 8th largest of 11 barangays in Cagwait by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bitaugan East accounted for approximately 4.16% of the total population of Cagwait, which stood at 21,747 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 840 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 905 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bitaugan East as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
