Barangay Laga-an

Barangay Laga-an is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Calatrava, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Laga-an had a population of 2,738. This made it the 6th largest of 40 barangays in Calatrava by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Laga-an accounted for approximately 3.32% of the total population of Calatrava, which stood at 82,540 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Laga-an moving from 2,629 residents to 2,738 residents, an intercensal change of +4.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Laga-an is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
