Barangay Mangilag Sur

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Mangilag Sur is one of the administrative divisions of Candelaria in Quezon, CALABARZON, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Mangilag Sur had a population of 8,451. This made it the 5th largest of 25 barangays in Candelaria by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mangilag Sur accounted for approximately 6.13% of the total population of Candelaria, which stood at 137,881 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 6,176 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 8,451 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +36.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Mangilag Sur as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Candelaria is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mangilag Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Quezon, which contains 1,242 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Mangilag Sur ranks 13th by 2020 population.
